A guide for the visitor who would like to explore the villages on foot. Great and Little Thurlow are twin villages on the western edge of Suffolk, both very old settlements – with many reminders today of their long and interesting history in the landscape of fields, hedges and woods and in the houses and other buildings. The guide sets out eight different walks, which between them take you past all the most noteworthy features and provide background information on the history of the buildings and some of their more famous inhabitants. There are also notes on the birds, flowers and trees you can expect to see on the way round.
Those who cannot actually visit the villages in person can now take a free ‘virtual walk’ on this website, by clicking on the walk titles. Better to see the real thing, though.
